Nishtha Manocha Appointed Expert Reviewer for IPCC Special Report on Climate Change and Cities
We are pleased to announce that Nishtha Manocha, Project Lead of ClimaTech at the EDHEC Climate Institute, has been selected as an Expert Reviewer for the First Order Draft of the IPCC Special Report on Climate Change and Cities (SRCITIES).
This Special Report, part of the IPCC’s Seventh Assessment Report (AR7) cycle, will deliver a timely and comprehensive assessment of the latest science on climate change and cities, including climate impacts and risks, as well as adaptation and mitigation options. It explores urban vulnerabilities, emissions trends, governance innovations, and region-specific case studies to support resilient, low-carbon urban futures.
Its five chapters cover:
Chapter 1: Cities in the context of climate change: framing of the report
Chapter 2: Cities in a changing climate: trends, challenges and opportunities
Chapter 3: Actions and solutions to reduce urban risks and emissions
Chapter 4: How to facilitate and accelerate change
Chapter 5: Solutions by city types and regions
As an Expert Reviewer, Nishtha will contribute to reviewing the scientific accuracy, completeness, and balance of the draft, supporting the IPCC’s rigorous, transparent, and inclusive review process.
The review period is taking place from 17 October to 12 December 2025.
The IPCC, the United Nations’ scientific body on climate change, produces global assessments every 5–7 years that guide international climate agreements and national strategies. The ongoing AR7 cycle (2024–2029) includes major reports on physical science, impacts and adaptation, and mitigation.
We look forward to Nishtha’s contribution to this essential global effort to strengthen the scientific foundation for effective climate action in urban environments.
