Edouard Civel, Senior Transition Risk Research Engineer, EDHEC Climate Institute

Édouard Civel, PhD, is Senior Transition Risk Research Engineer at EDHEC Climate Institute. His research examines how policy instruments and individual preferences shape the climate transition. He focuses on energy labels, climate risk metrics and carbon pricing instruments, studying whether they alter consumption and investment decisions, and how they feed into asset values. He is also a Research Affiliate at the Climate Economics Chair of Paris-Dauphine University. Previously, he worked as a Research Consultant at Square Management and as a post-doctoral researcher at École Polytechnique. From 2020 to 2026, he served as First Deputy Mayor in charge of Urban Ecology for the 5th district of Paris. He holds a PhD in economics from Paris-Nanterre University, a research master’s from Paris-Dauphine University and an engineering degree from ESPCI Paris. He has co-authored peer-reviewed articles, book chapters and international reports in climate and energy economics, a field he has taught at several universities, business and engineering schools (including HEC Paris, Sciences Po Paris and IMT Atlantique).
