First Meeting of the ClimaTech Peer Review Committee
First Meeting of the ClimaTech Peer Review Committee
The meeting agenda included a welcome address, introduction of the ClimaTech programme, review of participation rules and data governance, presentation of stakeholder perspectives, and agreement on the scope, timeline, and composition of the sector-specific review groups. This structured approach ensures transparency, scientific rigour, and active stakeholder engagement throughout the review process.
ClimaTech is a research initiative designed to help policymakers, investors, and industry stakeholders identify the most effective strategies and technologies for decarbonising infrastructure and building resilience against climate-related risks. The programme combines the largest global database of infrastructure-specific measures with evidence-based analysis, offering actionable insights aligned with regulatory standards and the latest scientific research.
The ClimaTech database covers more than 100 distinct strategies across 101 infrastructure sectors (≈1,800 sector–strategy applications). Each strategy is assessed for sector-specific effectiveness and enabling technologies, drawing on insights from 200+ academic papers, technical documents, and government reports. This ensures robust, practical outputs that help identify what works, what does not, and where greenwashing risks can be avoided.
In addition to this evidence base, ClimaTech produces a series of eight sector-specific analytical publications that:
Analyse infrastructure sectors and their exposure to physical and transition risks,
Identify the most material decarbonisation and resilience strategies,
Quantify their effectiveness using robust methodologies, and
Provide actionable insights to asset owners, investors, and regulators.

The inaugural session also featured interventions from distinguished stakeholders:
Monica Bennett (World Bank, PPIAF) highlighted the importance of developing tools that bridge the gap between climate science and policymaking.
Craig Lucas (Mott MacDonald) emphasised the role of engineering and technical expertise in making climate risk assessments actionable for infrastructure planning.
Edwin Lau (Blue Dot Network) stressed the need for international cooperation and transparent standards to ensure the global relevance of resilience strategies.
These contributions underscored the Committee’s role as a platform for multi-perspective dialogue, blending insights from finance, policy, engineering, and international collaboration.
Peer review provides quality control, data refinement, and robustness assurance while integrating practical learning and offering strategic advisory, ensuring our research remains credible, consistent, and aligned with future risks and standards. By reviewing the methodology, data, and findings of ClimaTech’s eight forthcoming sector-specific research papers, the Committee will play a central role in strengthening the scientific and operational value of the programme.
We warmly thank all members of the Peer Review Committee for their engagement in this first session and look forward to their valuable contributions throughout the review process.
